Profile: Born in Hemel Hempstead, Smith graduated from Watford’s esteemed youth academy.

After making 25 appearances and scoring twice for the Hornets, he signed for Swindon Town in 2005, making 138 appearances in his four years at the club. After his contract expired at the County Ground, he trialed for the Lions in the summer of 2009 and impressed Kenny Jackett, who then signed him.

Smith is arguably the most reliable and versatile player in the current Millwall squad, having played centre-back, left-back, right-back and even in midfield.

Highly revered by Millwall fans for his professionalism when called upon to provide cover, Smith has proved to be a composed defender who can play a pass as well as get stuck in.

He has gone on to make 75 appearances for Millwall scoring only once, a penalty away to Leicester in a 4-2 loss.

Did you know: Smith is the brother of QPR striker Tommy Smith.
