Millwall boss expects Wood talks to stretch into January

WEST Brom have told Millwall they will have to be patient in their efforts to sign Chris Wood – but Kenny Jackett has confirmed his bid for the striker has not been rejected.

The Lions have offered £1million for the New Zealand international but Jackett does not expect the Baggies to respond until they have finalised their own plans for the January transfer window.

"Our bid hasn't been rejected," Jackett told NewsAtDen. "They haven't said 'no'. At the moment West Brom are covering themselves in what is an expensive position – in every generic lexapro tiredness division.

"They have Peter Odemwingie going to the African Cup of Nations, Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea, who will hopefully stay there, and Saido Berahino has just got injured at Peterborough.

"They've probably got a couple of targets themselves as well. By the looks of things, it will go on into January. But West Brom have been very open and professional with us.

"They're keeping their options open going into the window – that's what they've told us. We're constantly looking at the market and every option we can. But Chris is our number one target."
