Beevers deal draws closer after Owls defender agrees terms

MARK Beevers has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract with Millwall ahead of his £250,000-move from Sheffield Wednesday.

The Lions now hope to rubber-stamp the deal before the end of the week, although the paperwork cannot officially be processed until the transfer window reopens on January 1.

The package agreed with the Owls for the 23-year-old includes "substantial" appearance-related add-ons, NewsAtDen has been told.

It has also emerged that talks about a permanent transfer were bridged when Wednesday tried to recall Beevers from his loan spell.

But an agreement between the clubs was thrashed out last Friday and Beevers has now agreed his side of the deal, which will see him remain at The Den until the summer of 2016.

Meanwhile, Millwall are still waiting to hear whether their bid for loan star Chris Wood has been accepted by West Brom.

Hello Lions fans, I am a Wednesdayite and like the rest of us I am a massive fan of mark beevers & think he will be a big star for you if not already. We are all sad & confused as to why we would sell him, but our loss is your gain. Good luck this season, please don't hammer us at the Den! UTO!

Flotter as happy as I am to have him I am amazed you let him go. Beevers has proved to be a very able defender, and while he is no Franco Baresi, he does seem very comfortable on the ball and at 23 he could still develop into the next Franco Baresi

I agree HCH. 6 seasons ago when Beevers played his first couple of games in the first team for us he already looked special. We had heard a lot about him before he actually played , but he did so well & learnt so quickly that he played 30 games the next season, was part of the tightest home defence in the championship & got a player of the year award in 2008. His successful loans to MK Dons & yourselves show how good he is at adapting to lots of different defensive partners, which he has had a lot of practise at with us! Unfortunately our defence has been chopped & changed by 3 different managers now since Laws was sacked in December 2009 & Beevers has been a casualty of those 3 managers not the way he plays. Have a good season, please make sure you beat the Leeds scum!

Good on ya Flotter - I'm amazed that Dave Jones was willing to let him go - especially in your current position - I thought Beevs must have fallen out with him! Good luck for the season mate, PS the last opposition fan who found his way on here was a leeds fan who appeared to have trouble knowing what end to think with and talk out of. Glad to know there is intelligent life in Yorkshire.
