Millwall fans arrested at Brighton game

THREE Millwall supporters were arrested during Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Brighton for what a police spokesperson described as "homophobic chanting".

Another four were detained after clashes with local police, according to the Chichester Observer.

“Police are aware of some homophobic comments made by away fans and some of the arrests were made as a result of homophobic chanting or comments made to Brighton supporters," said the spokesperson.

“Sussex Police is committed to tackling hate crime and encourages anyone who has been a victim of hate crime to come forward.”

Prior to kick-off, the chief executives of both clubs signed the Government's Anti-Homophobia Charter, which condemns the ostracising of homosexuals in the sport and promotes equality for all sexual orientations within football.
