Jackett has "decision to make" over Millwall captaincy

KENNY Jackett admits he has not decided whether stand-in skipper Danny Shittu will be stripped of the Millwall captaincy when Paul Robinson is fit again.

A string of injuries have restricted Robinson to just three appearances this season but he has started running outside again as he nears a return from a hip problem.

In his absence, Liam Trotter took over the armband but was replaced as vice-captain by Shittu ahead of the Lions' 1-1 draw with Bristol City in October.

Since then, the Nigerian has skippered the side to six wins, four draws and four clean sheets – and Jackett says there is a chance he could remain captain in the long-term.

"He's played very well and led the team very well," he said. "You can see his passion out there and I've been very pleased with Danny.

"There have been different times where I've said to him, 'come on, don't lose your focus and concentrate on your game as well.' He's passionate and very, very proud.

"You'd rather have two leaders than none. It's hard to find leaders nowadays, it really is. If we have two or even more, that would be fantastic and a nice problem to have.

"The two of them did play together for about ten games when Danny was here before on a short-term contract. They formed a good partnership.

"As to who is going to be captain, we'll have to see. It's not something I worry about and usually as a manager you're looking for a leader, so if I have two I'll be very pleased.

"But I do have a decision to make."
