Jackett buoyed by Brighton performance

MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett cut a frustrated figure after seeing his side pegged back twice at Brighton last night – but praised his players for putting on another 'excellent' away performance.

Kazenga LuaLua's 88th-minute free-kick, which squirmed under the dive of Lions goalkeeper David Forde, denied the visitors what would have been a crucial victory.

And while Jackett could not hide his disappointment at conceding such a late equaliser, he took great heart from his side's performance.

"Maybe David was unsighted for the goal but I'm sure he'd expect to save it," he told the club's official website. "After leading with a couple of minutes to go, it looks like a couple of points lost.

"But I'll take heart from the performance because I know we will be okay if we can maintain that standard of performance consistently.

"I'm very frustrated [with a draw] after leading twice and playing very well. Our players put on an excellent performance and so did our fans – there was a real again link between the two, and one sparked the other off.

"Ultimately, conceding such a late goal is a frustration when you are in our position in the league.

"It's the way our season is at the moment, where we put in a good performance like that but can't quite see it over the line. But the players should take some credit – if we can keep producing that kind of performance, results generally take care of themselves.

"A few games ago against Watford I thought we were very poor, but since then every single performance has been a good one."
