Gallen: Fans will be crucial at Brighton

MILLWALL assistant boss Joe Gallen believes Lions fans can have a major bearing on the team's performance at Brighton tonight.

The Lions have sold out their allocation of tickets for their first-ever visit to the Seagulls' new Amex Stadium, and Gallen is looking to the players to rise to the occasion.

"I haven't been there even once to watch a game yet so we are looking forward to going there," he told the club's official website.

"They have been getting some big attendances there this season and we are going to bring two-and-a-half thousand of our own fans, so its going to be a really big atmosphere.

"That will transmit to the players and we are looking to take three points."

The last time the two sides met, a late Jay Simpson wonder-strike salvaged a deserved point for Millwall that sparked a run of three straight wins in the league – and Gallen is keen to see the Lions kick-start another sequence of good results, starting with victory tonight.

"Simpson came up with a terrific goal towards the end of that game but it was nothing more than we deserved," he said.

"On the night we deserved at least a point and it did prove a turning point because we then went on a run of wins and we are looking to do that again.

"In recent weeks we have put in some good away performances, especially at Barnsley as we were pretty outstanding in that performance, so we are looking to go to Brighton with the same attitude as we had in those away games.

"We will look to pass the ball as well as we did in those games – we just need to create some more goal-scoring opportunities."
