MILLWALL have confirmed that they have extended the loan deal of West Brom striker Chris Wood until January.

The Lions have re-signed Wood ahead of Thursday's loan deadline as the New Zealand frontman turns 21 in December, voiding the terms of his initial youth loan.

Boss Kenny Jackett, speaking after Wood's late winner against Leeds United, had earlier said that he was in the dark about negotiations with the Baggies.

"We haven’t got any news to be honest with you, we will see," he said. "He is a young player making his way and I’m pleased with his progress."

But Millwall have now confirmed that Wood will remain at The Den until after Christmas and Jackett believes the former Birmingham and Brighton loanee has flourished in SE16.

Wood has scored seven goals in 12 appearances for the Lions and stole the headlines again with his dramatic intervention against the Yorkshire side.

"I think personally it has benefited him playing with the likes of Andy Keogh and Darius Henderson," Jackett said.

"We’ve been pleased with what he has done, he has worked hard and he has been part of the group.

"As a centre forward if you have the habit of getting the winner like that then it is a good habit to have. We will see where we are but we have been very pleased with him."

I reckon he's a lot better than Steve Morrison. Also Chris Wood can head the ball where as Kenny had to teach Morrison!!
