Millwall's academy undergoes audit ahead of categorisation

MILLWALL'S new academy base at Eltham College has undergone an independent audit that forms part of the Premier League's Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

The EPPP divides youth programmes into four different categories and the higher a club's grading, the more central funding it will receive.

The Lions have applied for category two status but will not hear whether they have been successful until January.

Foot Pass England, which is a subsidiary of a Belgian company Double Pass, completed their assessment last weekend.

Head of youth Scott Fitzgerald told NewsAtDen in September that he was confident Millwall had fully complied with the new regulations.

He said: "Millwall have done everything they could possibly do. We haven't cut any corners and we've gone above and beyond.

"We've gone from four members of staff in the academy to 16, which is a huge increase, and we've moved into a new facility, which is top drawer."
