Beevers: I fancy Millwall to beat anyone at The Den

MARK Beevers is confident Millwall can extend their unbeaten run to nine matches when they face Derby at The Den on Saturday.

The centre-back believes the Lions will be hard to beat on home soil on the back of picking up four points from a possible six in recent away matches against Nottingham Forest and Watford.

But the Rams have lost just once in their last eight fixtures, winning twice last week, and Beevers knows Nigel Clough's side will provide a stern test.

"I fancy us against anyone in our own back yard with our support," he told Lions Live. "I was warned when I came down here that the fans are a bit rowdy.

"They've been fantastic. They're so passionate about their football and long may it continue. Both teams are on form so it should be a good game.

"I played against Derby on the first day of the season for Sheffield Wednesday when I came on as substitute for ten minutes. It's a very winnable game.

"The manager said to us on Tuesday night that a win on Saturday after a draw away from home would make this a really good week.

"It's going to be a tough game. You don't look at any game in this league and think it's a guaranteed three points. You've got to take each game as it comes.

"I don't think anyone would have thought we'd beat Forest 4-1 last week. The attitude and quality we've got within the squad at the moment is bringing out results like that."

Beevers recently extended his loan spell from Wednesday until January and the 22-year-old says he is in the dark about whether the move will be made permanent when the transfer window reopens after Christmas.

"At the minute I'm getting games down here and I'll try my hardest to stay in the team and get points on the board for Millwall," he said.

"We'll see where that takes me. The next stop is January but whether anything will happen, I have no idea. Your guess is as good as mine at the minute.

"But I was more than happy to extend the loan. I couldn't wait to do. Originally it was only a 28-day loan, which is a really short time, but I was enjoying myself so much down here that I wanted to stay another couple of months."
