Jackett: We must build on Southampton win

MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett has called on his side to build on their FA Cup win at Southampton by overcoming Derby on Saturday.

The Lions welcome Nigel Clough's side to The Den on the back of two consecutive league defeats, but Jackett believes his players can use their midweek victory on the south coast as a platform to build on.

"It was a great game on Tuesday night and we are looking to take that into our league form," he told the club's official website.

“It is a massive game for us against Derby, having lost to Watford and West Ham disappointingly last week. I didn’t think we deserved anything out of Watford, but we were unlucky to get beaten on a referee’s decision at West Ham.

"Either way it is a defeat and we are looking bounce back against Derby.”

The Lions have lost their last three home games in the Championship and Jackett believes that his team need to find just that little bit extra to start picking up points.

He said: “We need to find some consistency. We have almost shown too much desperation at home and got the ball forward at times too early.

"We've not been controlled enough and as a result we have looked a bit vulnerable defensively.

“We have been close, but too often not close enough. We need to turn some good patches and some good performances into goals and wins.”

Jackett was quick to praise the eleven that started against Southampton and hinted that he could name an unchanged side.

“To a great degree, the lads who played on Tuesday will get the opportunity and it is right that they should," he added. "But if we don’t use everyone on Saturday, we are going to need them as we go along now.

“Our priority is staying up and we really have to work hard, compete, be together and put the club first in a time that I see as crucial for us.

“Paul Robinson and Darius Henderson will be one hundred per cent fit. We will monitor Jimmy Abdou and Shane Lowry over the next couple of days but both may be doubtful."
