MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett insists his close friendship with new Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway will not affect the rivalry between the two clubs.

Jackett, who worked as Holloway's assistant at QPR between 2001 and 2004, revealed he had spoken to the 49-year-old since his appointment at Selhurst Park was confirmed last week.

"I wished him all the best," he said. "I hope it goes very well for him personally – for his family and as an individual.

"They're terrific people and they deserve success. Anybody that has met him or knows him will know that he's a terrific individual.

"But that's on a personal level. On a professional level, we're in the same area now and competing against each other. We both understand that."
