Gallen: Keogh sub highlights Millwall's strength in depth

JOE Gallen believes the presence of Andy Keogh on Millwall's bench is spurring on in-form strike duo Chris Wood and Darius Henderson.

Henderson and Wood have scored a combined total of 11 goals in their last nine appearances to keep Keogh, who has netted 13 times in 25 starts since his January move from Wolves, out of the starting line-up.

Keogh came off the bench to grab the fourth goal in the Lions' 4-1 win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday and Gallen believes competition for places up front has contributed to the side's seven-game unbeaten run.

"Kenny Jackett picks the team and he gets it right nearly all of the time," he said. "You can't have too many good players.

"If we could have another two Andy Keogh's on the bench, we'd be in a better position. You're only as strong as your bench. For us to be able to bring Andy on is a good sign and he's a good player.

"Wood and Henderson are perhaps only playing as well as they are because Keogh is on the bench. Once Andy gets back in the team, he'll be hard to dislodge."
