MILLWALL goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall has joined Scunthorpe United on a one-month loan deal.

New Iron boss Brian Laws has moved quickly to make Mildenhall his first signing after being appointed last week.

Mildenhall was placed on the Lions' transfer list during the summer but saw a return to former club Southend United collapse, at which point he pursued a move to the United States.

But that did not materialise and the 33-year-old, who has made just 10 appearances for Millwall since 2010, has been forced to play for the development squad in U21 fixtures so far this season.

Laws told Scunthorpe's official site:  "I have been cap in hand begging favours and thankfully Millwall and Kenny Jackett have obliged.

"They have allowed us to have Steve to come to the club. Hopefully, he can bring the ingredients to help us stabilize.

"We know we have to start from the back, and thankfully Millwall have supported the move financially."
