MILLWALL have completed the signing of Tottenham right-back and England U21 international Adam Smith on a three-month loan deal.

NewsAtDen reported yesterday that Lions boss Kenny Jackett was closing in on the 21-year-old and the move has now been confirmed.

Smith trained with his new teammates for the first time on Thursday morning and is expected to go straight into the side to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Jackett told the club's official site: "Adam is a player I have been following for some time.

"He's a very promising young full-back and with both Jack Smith and Alan (Dunne) unavailable for Saturday this was an opportunity to bring Adam in to fill that gap in the short-term."

Smith has made 89 appearances in the Football League during previous loan spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Torquay United, Bournemouth, MK Dons and Leeds United.

Why are we so successful in the loan market and so unsuccessful in the transfer market?
