DOUGIE Freedman does not want Crystal Palace's emotions to get the better of them when they face Millwall on Saturday.

The Eagles boss believes staying level-headed is the key to winning potentially volatile derby matches and has called on his players to keep their cool.

Palace are in a rich vein of form heading into the match and a win against the Lions could potentially take them joint-top of the Championship.

"I've played in lots and managed in a few of these games now, so it's about keeping your emotions at a controlled level," Freedman told the Croydon Advertiser.

"I think if we do that then we've got a very good chance of winning the game. In terms of how we play, I'm going to have to wait and see before making a decision, because I want to make sure we're in the game.

"There's no use me getting excited because we're playing Millwall [and think] that we've got to win the game in the first ten minutes.

"I've got to make sure we compete with the best eleven competitors out there, because we've got enough quality to win it."
