Millwall defender set for six weeks out injured

JASON McCarthy is set to be out until Christmas with a toe injury.

McCarthy, 24, is wearing a protective boot on his foot and it leaves Millwall short on cover at right-back for Mahlon Romeo.

James Brown has recovered from a knee injury he suffered in pre-season but he needs to play a full 90 minutes for the under-23s before he can be considered for the first-team fold.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett gave an update on McCarthy (above, right) after the 2-1 win over Charlton on Saturday.

"He has split the cartilage in his toe so because it's an awkward position it probably looks like he's going to be out for maybe about six weeks.

"So it's a disappointment, but that's what happens."
