Millwall defender on Ireland duty after Newport win – as keeper records another shut-out

DANNY McNamara helped Newport County to a fifth consecutive clean sheet in League Two – before jetting off on international duty.

McNamara played right-back, and was booked, as Michael Flynn's side won 2-0 at Forest Green last weekend.

Padraig Amond scored the opener before Ryan Haynes' second to leave Newport in second place in the table behind Exeter. Former Lions stopper Tom King played in goal for Newport.

McNamara, 20, is currently with the Ireland under-21s for European Championship qualifiers against Armenia and Sweden.

Meanwhile, in National League South, Ryan Sandford kept a second consecutive clean sheet in Dorking Wanderers' 1-0 win over Chippenham Town on Tuesday evening.

Dorking drew 0-0 at home to Dulwich Hamlet last weekend. Sandford's side are ninth in the table.
