Millwall defender impresses against £36million winger – but West Ham knock out Newport

DANNY McNamara enhanced his burgeoning reputation with his performance against Millwall's bitter rivals West Ham, but couldn't help Newport produce a shock as the Hammers won 2-0 in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

McNamara played 90 minutes at right-back, and for the majority of the game was up against £36million Felipe Anderson, who came on in the eighth minute for the injured Michail Antonio.

West Ham went through to the third round with goals from Jack Wilshere and Pablo Fornals.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ryan Sandford played for Dorking Wanderers in their 3-2 defeat at Braintree in their National League South clash on Monday.
