AIDEN O’Brien is struggling with a groin injury and could miss Millwall’s first pre-season game at Concord on Saturday.
Lions boss Neil Harris is set to give 22 players a run-out against the National League South side, with new signings Frank Fielding and Matt Smith in line for debuts.
O’Brien wasn’t a regular last season, but Harris stressed he will be an important player in the next campaign.
“Aiden’s got a bit of a groin issue,” Harris said. “But he’s fantastic, he’s a player we certainly want to utilise. He can play in a variety of positions.
“When we talk about slight tinkering and changing shape and players having personality, Aiden certainly falls into that category.
“He’s someone who would have liked to have played more football last year and only didn’t play at the end of the season because he was struggling with injury. The games before that he was slightly struggling.
“Aiden has always been in the team or on the fringes of the team. He’s always been in my first 13, 14, 15 players.
“He’s got great ability. Will we see him Saturday? We’ll have to see.”
