Millwall defender wins promotion with Tranmere

MILLWALL'S Sid Nelson has won promotion for the first time in his career after Tranmere Rovers scored a late winner to break Newport County's hearts at Wembley on Saturday.

With a dull League Two play-off final seemingly destined for penalties, Connor Jennings headed home Jake Caprice's cross in the 119th minute to seal a second promotion in two seasons for Micky Mellon's side.

Nelson started at centre-back, and played 115 minutes before he appeared to be struggling with an injury and was replaced with Adam Buxton.

Former Lions skipper Nelson, 23, is being released this summer and is looking for a new club.
