'It's not personal' – Millwall manager has told players they will be leaving the club

NEIL Harris has revealed the players who are leaving the club this summer have been told.

Harris said "it's not personal" as he looks to rebuild his squad this summer.

The Lions finished 21st in the Championship this season and Harris is determined to improve the squad over the close season.

"Yeah, players have been told," Harris responded when asked if he had spoken to those that he wants to ship out. "It’s not personal. It’s just, they’ve not performed for me, or they need a change, or we need a change from them. That’s all it is.

"It’s a cycle, four years. I need to change it. I feel we need to develop and we need to move forward.

"One thing that doesn’t change at this level is that the Championship moves forward every year, with the quality of player in it and the knock-on effect of foreign players entering English football and the young English players getting knocked down.

"You have to keep moving with it and if you don’t you struggle. This year we didn’t move forward and we’ve struggled.

"Next year I want to stand on the sideline and see a team that can compete in the Championship."
