Millwall goalkeeper close to agreement – and Lions prioritise Derby defender

DAVID Martin is close to agreeing a new deal with Millwall – and boss Neil Harris hopes to sign Alex Pearce from Derby County.

Martin, 33, has been Millwall's first-choice goalkeeper since March and is out of contract this summer. He is set to extend his stay into a third season.

Pearce, 30, joined the Lions on loan from the Rams to add central-defensive depth, eventually earning a regular place in the side and wearing the captain's armband. The Republic of Ireland international's contract with Frank Lampard's side runs out at the end of June.

Harris said: "I want to keep Alex Pearce. Dave Martin is close to a new contract. They’re two players that I can be honest about that I want to stay."
