Stand-in Millwall skipper did not hear any racist abuse

DANNY Shittu says he did not hear any of the racist abuse that a Millwall fan is alleged to have directed at Bolton players at The Den on Saturday.

The Lions say they are investigating whether "an individual" targeted Trotters substitutes Marvin Sordell, Benik Afobe, Darren Pratley and Lee Chung-Yong while they were warming up during the match.

But Shittu, who has been handed the captaincy in the absence of skipper Paul Robinson, was not aware of any incidents at the time.

"On the day we didn't really hear anything," the defender told Sky Sports News.

"I think there was so much going on that day, but me personally I didn't really hear anything.

"It's something that I didn't really find out about until I got home and saw it on the news.

"It something that is very, very sad to see. I know that Millwall have been doing a lot to combat these kind of things.

"And not just Millwall, I know a lot of clubs work on that. We're very disappointed to hear something like that going on."

Shittu has played against Millwall in the past but says he never heard any racist chanting as an opposition player.

"When I did play against them, anybody will tell you that anybody who comes back to Millwall, it’s a hard ground to play at," he said.

"The fans really do get on your back, but personally I didn’t really experience any racism from them.

"It is a hard place to come and play and you do get a lot of abuse, like you do at any club you go to.

"I didn’t personally get any racist taunts or anything like that."

    Perhaps because there wasn't any?

Strange that the story came out last week on how scared they were last season. Fix!!

No-one else heard it. The Police didn't hear it. Coyle didn't hear it. The Millwall bench didn't hear it. Millwall supporters racist ? What a load of rubbish- from a player who was on the losing side. Never going to be able to prove it. Only thing that's going to happen is the name of Millwall dragged through the mire once again. What a sad man he must be. Get a life son.
