Byron Webster leaves Millwall to sign for Scunthorpe United

BYRON Webster has joined League One side Scunthorpe United on a permanent deal.

The defender joined from Yeovil Town in the summer of 2014 and was ever-present in the 2016/2017 season as Millwall won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

And Webster started 10 of the Lions' first 11 Championship games last season before suffering a serious knee injury in training, which forced him to miss the rest of the campaign.

Webster returned to first-team action in August after 11 months out and captained the side against Gillingham in the 1st Round of the Carabao Cup.

But the former Yeovil Town centre-back has played just five times since then, with his last game in a Millwall shirt coming in the 3-2 victory at Ipswich Town on New Year's Day.

He scored eight goals in 137 appearances during his time at Millwall.
