MILLWALL have signed Mark Beevers from Sheffield Wednesday on a 28-day emergency loan to boost their injury-hit defence.

The Lions face Bolton in the Championship on Saturday without three of their first-choice centre-backs – Paul Robinson (groin), Karleigh Osborne (calf) and Shane Lowry (suspended).

Tamika Mkandawire is fit against after knee surgery last year but has only just returned to the first-team fold and is not ready to be thrown straight in against the Trotters.

Beevers, who can also operate on the left, was scouted by assistant manager Joe Gallen whilst playing for the Owls in a League Cup clash against Southampton in September.

The 22-year-old also played against Millwall at Hillsborough earlier this season in Wednesday's 3-2 win in August.
