PREVIEW: Preston North End vs. Millwall

ALEX Neil reckons Millwall are suffering not having two key players that played prominent roles in their surge towards the top six last season.

The Lions head to Deepdale on Saturday having won just four times in 21 league games this season.

Millwall haven’t won away since last April, and face a side that has lost just one of their last 11 games.

Preston boss Neil feels the losses of George Saville and Ben Marshall have affected Millwall this season. The Lions finished eighth in 2017-18, but are currently 21st with 19 points from 21 games.

“Millwall had a really strong season last time. What Neil Harris will be looking for from them now is a bit more consistency,” Neil said.

“They lost key players in the summer, George Saville went to Middlesbrough and Ben Marshall’s loan ended.

“You would say that they aren’t too dissimilar to us in the fact that when you lose your best players who are sold for big money, trying to replace that quality with what you have to spend becomes difficult.

“It is going to be a game where we have to compete and play very well if we are to get something from it.”

Millwall will be without the injured Shaun Williams and Tom Bradshaw at Preston, who are set to have midfielder Ben Pearson available.

Neil has injury problems. Brandon Barker is out, as are Callum Robinson, Sean Maguire, Billy Bodin and Josh Harrop.

Possible Millwall team:

4-4-2: Archer; Romeo, Hutchinson, Cooper, Meredith; J Wallace, Leonard, Tunnicliffe, O’Brien; Morison, Gregory.

Match odds:

Preston 10/11 Draw 12/5 Millwall 13/5

Last season:

Preston 0-0 Millwall; Millwall 1-1 Preston (O'Brien 43’; Robinson 80’).
