BEN Thompson’s Portsmouth are three points clear of Sunderland at the top of League One after Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bradford.
Gareth Evans’ goal condemned the Bantams to a sixth straight defeat, and they are already seven points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table after 17 games.
Thompson played the full game in midfield for Kenny Jackett’s side.
Also in League One, Fred Onyedinma’s Wycombe won for the fourth time in six games as they handed Peterborough their first away defeat of the season.
Onyedinma was fouled in the 66th minute of the contest, with Bryn Morris firing in the free-kick for the winner. The Chairboys are 15th in the table.
In League Two, Sid Nelson was in the centre of defence for Swindon, but couldn’t prevent his side losing 1-0 at Colchester. Swindon dropped to 16th in the standings.
And in the National League, midfielder Harry Donovan came on as an 83rd-minute substitute for Dagenham & Redbridge in their 1-0 loss at Sutton.
