Millwall loan watch: Thommo back in Portsmouth side as they stay top

BEN Thompson was back in the Portsmouth side as they held off a second-half fightback from AFC Wimbledon to win 2-1 at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.

Thompson played the full game in midfield, his first league start since September 8, as Kenny Jackett’s Pompey preserved their three-point lead over Peterborough at the top of League Two.

Tom King was on the bench for the Dons.

Also in League One, Fred Onyedinma came on as a 78th-minute substitute but couldn’t help Wycombe avoid a 1-0 defeat at Coventry. The Chairboys are 18th in the table.

Sid Nelson returned to Swindon’s bench after a hip injury. The Robins lost 2-0 away against Exeter.

Harry Donovan wasn’t involved in National League Dagenham & Redbridge’s 2-1 defeat at home to Wrexham.
