FRED Onyedinma was taken off on Saturday with Wycombe Wanderers chasing a three-goal deficit at home to Southend United.
Southend were 3-0 up by the 57th minute, before Onyedinma went off nine minutes later.
Craig Mackail-Smith and Adebayo Akinfenwa struck in the last 10 minutes, but Wycombe couldn’t find an equaliser as they dropped to 20th in League One.
Also in the third tier, Kenny Jackett’s Portsmouth went top of the table after a 3-1 win at Rochdale.
Ben Thompson came on as a substitute in the 75th minute before Matt Clarke sealed a 3-1 win with nine minutes left.
In League Two, Sid Nelson played in the centre of Swindon’s defence as they picked up a third clean sheet in four league games with a 0-0 draw at home to Oldham.
Phil Brown’s Robins are ninth in the table.
Tom King was on the bench in AFC Wimbledon’s 2-1 win at home to Oxford in League One. It was the Dons’ first home win of the league campaign.
In the National League, Harry Donovan was in midfield as his side Dagenham & Redbridge lost 3-1 at home to Ebbsfleet.
Former Lions midfielder Jack Powell came on at half-time for the visitors.
