No Yaya Toure-style strop at Millwall – as birthday boy Moro takes the cake

STEVE Morison turned 35 last week – and has made sure the canteen at the training ground is well-stocked with tasty treats for the players and staff today.

It's the current tradition at the club that a player whose birthday it is buys the cakes.

Lee Gregory celebrated his 30th birthday on August 26, three days before Morison.

In 2014, it was reported that Manchester City's Yaya Toure was considering leaving after he was unhappy with the club's efforts to properly mark his 31st birthday.

But there is little chance of that kind of petulance being repeated at Calmont Road.

Millwall's squad and staff are back at the training ground today as they prepare for the clash against Leeds United after the international break.

Morison hopes the spread will be well-deserved this morning.

"We have to buy our own cakes," Morison explained. "It was Lee Gregory's birthday recently so he brought cakes in last Thursday.

"I've got my selection of cakes, they should be at the training ground now defrosting and ready for the guys when we finish training.

"They'll enjoy them and hopefully they will be well-earned after a good training session."

From an elaborate Salted Caramel Toffee Swirl Cheesecake with Almonds to a Cookies and Cream combination, the Lions skipper had all bases covered.
