Tony Xia's Aston Villa are in huge financial difficulties after missing out on promotion to the Premier League.
John Terry was reported to be earning more than £60,000 per week, with bonuses on top of that, but Villa have to tighten the purse strings this summer.
Steve Bruce is happy to remain at the club, though he understands numerous first-team players may have to be sold, including star man Jack Grealish.
It looks set to be a season of mediocrity for the Villans, who are rumoured to be struggling to even confirm loan deals, a true sign of the dire straits that the club are in.
Millwall picked up four points against the Midlands side last season.
Whoever their remaining players are this season they should be too good to go down, though it depends on the depth available from their under-23s, too. They finished second in their league last season.
It doesn't appear likely they will challenge for promotion.
