Millwall pair in preliminary World Cup squad

TIM Cahill and James Meredith have been named in Australia’s preliminary 32-man squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Socceroos coach Bert van Marwijk has picked the Lions pair, Cahill hoping to appear in his fourth World Cup, Meredith his second.

The squad will be trimmed before a training camp in Turkey, after which van Marwijk will pick his 23-man squad for the finals.
