MILLWALL striker John Marquis has undergone surgery on a groin injury that will keep him out of action until the new year.
Marquis saw a specialist last week to determine the best course of action after tearing his adductor muscle and he was advised to go under the knife as soon as possible.
The 20-year-old tweeted from his hospital bed after the operation, saying it had been a "success with no complications".
He added: "Thanks to the surgeon, nurses and club physio for everything! The road to recovery starts now."
Physio Bobby Bacic said: "Everyone concerned is going to work very hard and we have targeted a possible return for January 2013."
