Millwall icon banned – as Fulham star off the hook

TIM Cahill has been banned for three games for an incident involving Ryan Fredericks in Millwall’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham last Friday.

Referee Andre Marriner and his officials missed the apparent elbow by Cahill on the Cottagers full-back, but Cahill was charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.

Cahill, 38, will miss Millwall’s final two games of the season against Middlesbrough and Aston Villa and, if the Lions finish in the top six, the first leg of the play-off semi-final.

Moments after Cahill and Fredericks clashed, Aleksandar Mitrovic appeared to take his own retribution when he swung an elbow at the Millwall player. The FA did look at that incident, but the Fulham striker has not been punished.

Millwall have accepted the charge against Cahill.
