Championship preview: Millwall vs. Fulham

MILLWALL know if they win they will go four points clear of Derby before the Rams host Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Lions could end the weekend fifth or – in a very, very bad-case scenario – ninth with two games left this season.

Fulham have threats all over the pitch. Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, signed on loan from Newcastle in January, has scored 12 goals in his last 12 games.

Ryan Sessegnon is being linked with the top English sides as well as with Barcelona and PSG, and he has been named Championship Player of the Season.

Behind those two, Tom Cairney – whom Newcastle were reportedly ready to splash £20million on last summer – pulls the strings in midfield.

The Cottager’s four-game winning run was ended by Brentford’s 94th-minute equaliser last weekend, and Slavisa Jokanovic’s side know they have to win their last three games and hope Cardiff slip up twice to be guaranteed finishing second.

Defender Tim Ream admitted the clash at The Den is a must-win for the visitors.

“There’s no two ways about it. We know what the situation is and we know that starting with Millwall on Friday night we have to win and there’s no getting around that,” Ream told Fulham’s official website.

“Saturday evening was tough to take but we’ve drawn games in this run so it’s a game we have to now put behind us and get ready for Millwall.

“We’ve shown a mental toughness throughout this entire run, just because we concede in the 94th minute doesn’t mean we’re not mentally tough. It’s just a matter of dusting ourselves down and going again."

Millwall boss Neil Harris could name the same side for the 11th time in the last 13 games.

Fulham also have a settled team and could line up as they did against the Bees.
