THE Wonderwall Cup 2018: Charity football match in aid of terror victims and emergency services.
In 2017, the UK was subjected to a series of deeply shocking terror attacks, with London and Manchester the two cities most strongly affected by the atrocities.
Micky Simpson (Millwall Fan On The Board) and Andy Pheby (Millwall fan based in Manchester) decided they had to do something. With the help of Shane Pearson (Millwall fan also based in Manchester) and Rosie Spearpoint (Millwall fan) we wanted to put an event together in aid of the survivors, victims and their families and the emergency services that fought so bravely to save lives. With that in mind, we’d like to introduce you to The Wonderwall Cup.
With support from many of the victims and their families we decided to set up a charity football match to raise some much-needed funds for all those affected by these dreadful attacks.
The Wonderwall Cup is a charity football event with the purpose of bringing these two great cities together in a show of solidarity. We want to celebrate the lives of the people lost in these attacks, as well as the sheer resilience of this country and how we pull together in times of need.
The event will involve some fantastic football matches:
A pay-to-play football match giving you the chance to play at The Den.
An emergency services game: London Ambulance Service vs. Manchester Ambulance Service.
The last game will be a special celebrity match, kicking off at 3pm, with ex-footballers and celebrities including: Danny Jones, Anthony Quinlan, Alex Rae, Paul Dickov, Rocket, Dan Osborne, Jake Quickenden, Jamie O'Hara, ManLikeHaks, Mo The Comedian, Jamie Shawyer, Stevo The Madman, Dom Lever, Callum Best and Danny Miller. The London Lions player-manager will be none other than Big Narstie.
There will also be an auction with various prizes:
Three lucky players will get to play 18 holes of golf with Silver Medalist at The Open and now professional golfer, Alfie Plant.
Tickets for Star Wars: Secrets of The Empire experience.A signed copy of Gino D’Acampo’s book.
