Millwall will persevere with passing style of play, vows Jackett

KENNY Jackett insists Millwall will not go back to basics after three straight losses left them in the Championship relegation zone.

Defeat to Brighton on Saturday was the Lions' fifth of the season but Jackett says he will persevere with his plans to evolve his team's style of play.

Jackett wants to see his side become less direct and more patient in possession and has no plans to perform a u-turn.

"We're going to continue to play," he said. "I think you have to. You have to play out from the back to be constructive.

"That doesn't mean you don't defend when the opposition has a corner or are in crossing positions.

"You still have to defend. In possession, you need every option. Be it a short ball or a long ball, you need that selection all the way through your team.

"We will continue to do that and add to being better in both boxes. That's our aim."

Millwall find themselves 22nd in the league table and while the new campaign is only seven games old, Jackett says he is concerned that losing is already becoming a habit.

"I look at the table every single day," he said. "Anybody who tells you any different is lying. I'm constantly aware of it.

"After three losses on the trot, you start to look at the impact that has on your players.

"The plus side is that there over 100 points still to play for this season. And if we can keep playing with the same type of spirit that we showed at the end, that will be a positive for us.

"But you definitely look at the table and you don’t want to be in the bottom three."

Jackett wants to play a passing game with Abdou and Dunne in the team? Baffling

If it wasn't for the fact that I overlook him from my seat I wouldn't believe he was there.
We have got a very weak defence that stems from the fact that our midfield are over run every game. Even Jimmy has stopped tackling. Malone can be a good left sided attacking option but he can't defend. Hopelessly lightweight and is knocked off the ball on the ground and in the air. Put lowry at left back with Taylor in front of him...yes keep passing but with purpose.

Pass and loose the KJ way........come on Kenny you know its not good enough !

Why aren't you playing Shittu ?

      Where's Racon again ?

If Tam needs the games put him on for 45 minutes ?

As matey next to me says every game........ " sawt it art Jakitt"
