THE last time Millwall lost in the league they were 15th in the Championship table, 11 places and 17 points behind Bristol City.
But on Saturday the Lions can deliver a damaging blow to the Robins’ top-six hopes while enhancing their own chances of making the play-offs.
For the majority of the season it appeared certain that Bristol City would finish at least in the play-off places. They were never out of the top six from September to March but their run to the semi-finals of the League Cup where they met Manchester City seems to have been a damaging distraction.
They have won just two of seven league games since being knocked out by Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions-in-waiting.
They were booed when they lost 1-0 at home to Brentford last Monday, but they showed over two legs against City the talent they possess and good they can potentially be.
Bobby Reid, who has scored 19 goals in 46 games in all competitions this campaign, was named in the 2017-18 Championship team of the season.
Boss Lee Johnson could welcome back Republic of Ireland international Callum O’Dowda from injury as well as striker Matty Taylor, both of whom trained this week.
The Lions haven’t lost at The Den since last November and could move into the top six with a win if other results go their way.
Neil Harris has named the same starting XI for eight of the last nine games, and again has almost a full squad to choose from this weekend, Byron Webster the only first-team player sidelined.
