JAMIE Philpot scored twice at the weekend to keep Welling United in the promotion hunt.
Philpot equalised against Hungerford Town before grabbing a late second in a 4-1 win that moved Welling back into the play-off places in National League South.
In League Two, Tom King made a number of saves for Stevenage but couldn’t help them avoid defeat in Dino Maamria’s first game in charge, after Mikael Mandron’s winner for Colchester.
James Brown was an unused sub as Carlisle drew 1-1 at home against David Forde’s Cambridge United in League Two. Carlisle are six points off the play-off spots.
Also in the fourth tier, Sid Nelson scored his first-ever goal in professional football – after 75 appearances – to set Chesterfield on their way to a 3-1 win at home to Kevin Nolan's Notts County.
In League One, Jimmy Abdou played for 82 minutes as AFC Wimbledon went down 1-0 at Shrewsbury. The Dons are just two points above the relegation zone.
And in Isthmian League North, goalkeeper Harry Girling kept a clean sheet in Cheshunt’s 2-0 win over Brentwood Town.
