Behind Enemy Lines: Hull City

HAVING won their last four away league games, the Lions will head into this one full of confidence.

Although a 1-1 draw against Sunderland on Saturday was disappointing, Neil Harris’ men are now within two away wins of a club record, and need just one more point to break the 50 mark.

However unlikely it may be, they still have a very small chance of making the play-offs, which shows how far this team has come in the last year.

Hull started the season poorly, which resulted in a change of manager, Nigel Adkins replacing Leonid Slutsky.

Hull are just three points above 22nd-placed Birmingham, who sacked Steve Cotterill on Saturday night.

Lucas Ball spoke to Tigers fan Alex Thurston this week.

Why do you support Hull?

I’ve supported Hull ever since I was about seven, having been a fan ever since my first game which was Watford at home. I’m pretty sure we won the game 2-0.

What’s been your favourite season following the Tigers?

That would have to be the 2015-16 season when we went up from the Championship, beating Sheffield Wednesday in the play-final. We played great football that season under Steve Bruce.

Where have things gone wrong for Hull in recent years?

I think the owner/fan relationship has had an effect on the club’s progress for sure, but as well as this, our inability to secure a long-term manager after Bruce left has also affected our results in the league.

Do you think not playing on Saturday will benefit Hull?

I think it could benefit us, but I also think we’re in a better run of form at the moment, so playing Ipswich could’ve been a good chance for us to get some more points on the board.

Who will be the danger men for Nigel Adkins' side?

Nouha Dicko is certainly playing better in recent games, having scored five for us so far. He’s a strong forward who can be hard to handle for defenders on a good day.

Also, Jarrod Bowen, if he starts, can cause real problems for any opposition in this league.

Which Millwall players will Hull be paying close attention to?

Obviously, we’ve conceded quite a few goals this season, so Lee Gregory would be the main person to look out for as he’s your top scorer this season.

What’s your predicted starting XI and formation?

Aina Macdonald Dawson Clark

Bowen Larsson Stewart Grosicki or Diomande

Finally, a score prediction?
