Prospect of Tottenham rematch won't influence Millwall team selection at Rochdale

NEIL Harris insisted the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup hasn’t influenced his thinking over which team to select at Rochdale on Tuesday night.

If the Lions win at Spotland then they will likely have a lucrative home tie against Tottenham, unless Newport produce one of the greatest shocks in the competition by winning their replay at Wembley.

Harris made nine changes for the first game, but felt it was their "mentality" rather than a weakened side that has forced them to travel to the League One club for a replay.

Asked if the prospect of Spurs has caused him to change his mind about a starting XI against Keith Hill’s side, he said: “No. I’ll pick a strong team.

He added: “ In the first game against Rochdale the mentality wasn’t right. We weren’t at it and were poor for 60 minutes.

“When we woke ourselves up we were brilliant and should have won. The replay is a game I want to win.

“The next round against Tottenham or Newport, we want to be at home at The Den against either of them. It’s a great opportunity for either team to get a chance to possibly play against a Premier League team.

“I’ll pick a strong side, to play the conditions as well as the tie. And then we’ll be ready again with a different team for Friday night against Cardiff.”
