Jackett: Brighton is a "big game against a top side" for Millwall

KENNY Jackett says Millwall are relishing the chance to test themselves against "another top side" when Brighton travel to The Den on Saturday.

The Lions have emerged from recent games against Hull City and Cardiff City pointless, conceding six goals and scoring just one in the process, but Jackett believes his players are close to finding a winning formula.

"There are fine margins between winning and losing games," he said. "Against Cardiff I didn't think we were a million miles away. Ultimately, though, we lost the game and that's a frustration.

"When people talk about taking positives from a game, it's about assessing where you are, how close you are and then making up that gap.

"It's a big game on Saturday but it's good that we're playing another top side. Brighton are going very well but from our point of view we know where we need to improve and what we have to work on."

Jackett was critical of his defence in the wake of the 2-0 defeat to the Bluebirds in midweek and believes Millwall's backline need to improve as a unit – despite some impressive individual performances.

"I thought there were some good defensive performances against Cardiff. Shane Lowry and Scott Malone are relatively new to the club and have played well this year.

"Collectively, though, we have to work harder at getting out to block shots."
