NEW Millwall defender Harry Toffolo believes the club suits him “down to a tee” – and he is looking forward to having the backing of the “intimidating” Den atmosphere.
Toffolo, 22, completed his move to Millwall from Norwich on Monday morning before taking part in training ahead of the Championship clash with Derby on Tuesday evening.
Toffolo hasn’t played senior football since December 9, when he broke two toes in Doncaster’s 1-0 defeat to Oxford and he went back to Norwich to complete his recovery.
He played twice for the Canaries under-23 side last week and could be in the match-day squad to face the Rams.
Toffolo was in the Peterborough side that lost 3-0 at The Den in February 2016.
The defender will press James Meredith for a place in Neil Harris’ side as he bids to impress to earn a longer Lions contract at the end of the season.
“I’m match fit, I’m in the frame to play. The lads have been doing well in the league so I have to wait and see if I can earn my place,” Toffolo told NewsAtDen.
“I can play left-back, left wing-back, left of midfield. I like to get the ball into the box, I’m very attacking. I also like the defensive side of things.
“Millwall suits me down to a tee. It’s a winning mentality here, and I want to win, I don’t like losing. It’s about being strong mentally, on and off the field. There’s a reputation you have to have coming to Millwall. I relish it and I feel I can get on well with the fans here and they will take to me.
“I’ve played at The Den, it was very intimidating but I also enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to having that intimidation backing me now.”
Toffolo has played on loan for Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Rotherham and Peterborough, and joked he will have no problem withhis initiation song as he has had plenty of practice.
“I’m quite relaxed, I’ve been to new clubs before. I’m looking forward to it, I’m not sure if they sing here but I’ve got my song ready,” he said. “I’m at Millwall now so I may have to change it, but it’s One Direction: What Makes You Beautiful.
“I’ve sung it everywhere I’ve been, it’s the only song I know the verse and the chorus. I’m used to moving. I moved schools when I was younger, I’ve moved clubs a lot and I like meeting new people.
“I like to be a character off the pitch and on the pitch.”
