TAMIKA Mkandawire is set to leave Millwall on loan in a bid to build up match fitness after nearly a year on the sidelines.
Manager Kenny Jackett says the the 29-year-old needs to play competitive games again before he can return to the Lions' first-team.
Mkandawire has played two matches for the club's U21 side in recent weeks and Jackett sees a loan move as the next stage of the midfielder's rehabilitation.
The former Leyton Orient man has been out since undergoing knee surgery in Novemeber 2011.
"We'll be looking to get Tam some game time and get him out on loan as he recovers from his injury," Jackett said.
"We will be making him available. He played again for the development group in friendly on Tuesday and he has to keep working towards fitness.
"He needs to bridge the gap between being out for a year and playing in the Championship, which is quite a big jump."
