Championship preview: Fulham vs. Millwall

MILLWALL will have to be watchful of “special talent” Ryan Sessegnon this weekend, according to his former Fulham team-mate Ryan Tunnicliffe.

Sessegnon made his debut as a 16-year-old last season and his performances led him to be linked with a £25million move to Tottenham in the summer.

But Sessegnon ignored the possibility of a switch to a Champions League club to instead sign a new long-term deal and his progress has continued this season.

Sessegnon scored a hat-trick on Tuesday night in Fulham’s 5-4 win at Sheffield United.

“It’s hard to say one thing about him that makes him stand out,” Tunnicliffe said. “He’s very good, you just get those special talents sometimes. I was there when he broke through and he plays way beyond his years.

“With Scott Malone going to Huddersfield it opened the door for him and he’s kicked on massively. He’s still only seventeen and I think he’s got a great career in front of him.”

Millwall are still chasing a first away win of the season, having gone close against last Saturday when Jordan Archer’s error gifted Sunderland a 2-2 draw.

“If you look at the game last Saturday we were more than a match for them,” Tunnicliffe said. “If we were to play another 100 games this season I don’t think Jordan would make another mistake like that. It’s a freak accident.

“The crowd got into it after that but we did well to weather the storm and come away with a good point.

“I think anyone going to the Stadium of Light and picking up a point will be happy because I believe they are a good side and will come on strong in the second half of the season. It could be a valuable point for us there.”

Jed Wallace is serving the last game of his three-match ban and boss Neil Harris could name the same team for the third successive fixture.

Fulham have no new injury concerns ahead of the derby.
