International: Crunch night for O'Brien and Ireland

AIDEN O’Brien could be one step away from the World Cup with the Republic of Ireland facing Denmark in Dublin on Tuesday for a place in Russia next year.

The tie is 0-0 after the first leg in Copenhagen last Saturday.

George Saville started for the first time for Northern Ireland on Sunday night, but they couldn’t overturn a 1-0 deficit against Switzerland as their dreams of reaching the finals for the first time since 1986 ended.

Conor McLaughlin and Shane Ferguson were unused subs.

Jordan Archer returned to training on Monday after he was on the bench for Scotland’s 1-0 defeat to the Netherlands at the weekend.
