Report: Millwall 0-2 Cardiff City

TWO goals in two second-half minutes condemned Millwall to their second defeat in four days to leave them 21st in the Championship table.

Peter Whittingham and Craig Noone scored in the 53rd and 55th minute to hand Cardiff City their first away win at The Den in 30 years.

In a quiet first-half which was largely dominated by Millwall, James Henry's free-kick was perhaps the closest either team came to breaking the deadlock.

His whipped shot beat the wall only to be beaten away by Bluebirds keeper David Marshall in the 39th minute.

An earlier chance had fallen Henry's way after a superb pass and move between Keogh and Henderson freed the winger, whose first-time shot was blocked by Andrew Taylor.

The Bluebirds thought they had taken the lead when Whittingham's free-kick floated over Maik Taylor and into the top corner, only to be ruled out for shirt pulling inside the penalty area.

Jordan Mutch should have opened the scoring when he found himself unmarked and on the end of Kevin McNaughton's pinpoint cross in the 27th minute but he glanced a tame header wide.

Shane Lowry's improvised cross was met by Osborne's snap shot which went just wide as the Lions made a strong finish to the opening half.

But Cardiff had the game all-but won after ten minutes of the second-half. Whittingham's exquisite curled effort found the top corner and was followed shortly after by Noone's neatly-placed shot.

Millwall's response to going behind was limited to a tame long-range shot from Henry and substitute Chris Taylor's goalbound effort which, much to Kenny Jackett's frustration, was inexplicably blocked on the line by teammate Shaun Batt in the dying stages.
