MILLWALL have been dealt a huge injury blow with the news that Shaun Williams is set to be out of action until next year.
Williams missed Millwall’s 3-1 defeat to Barnsley at The Den on Saturday, with Ryan Tunnicliffe starting his first league game for the club.
“Shaun Williams has got damage to the lateral ligament in his knee,” Lions boss Neil Harris explained. “We’re looking at a period of about three months.
“It’s a blow for the boy because his form has been outstanding. He’s probably playing the best football of his career.
“He’s forged a really good partnership in midfield with George Saville.
“It’s disappointing for me as a manager, and as a club, but it’s really disappointing for Shaun.
“However, saying that, it’s an opportunity for someone else and for players to stamp their authority on a starting position.
“Ryan Tunnicliffe will get better as he goes along. I thought it was a solid start today. He’s not played a lot of football in a Millwall shirt.
“So he’ll be learning all the time.”
