Championship preview: Millwall vs. Reading

LEE Gregory is into the last game of his three-game ban, with Neil Harris set to decide between starting Fred Onyedinma or Aiden O’Brien up front against Reading.

Onyedinma was withdrawn in the 55th minute of the 0-0 draw with Preston on Saturday, with Shane Ferguson coming on.

Tom Elliott is still out but Harris should have no new injury problems.

Reading are set to be without Jordan Obita at left-back, with former Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett ready to step in.

Modou Barrow and midfielder Leandro Bacuna are also injury doubts.

Reading defeated Millwall 3-1 in the second round of the League Cup in August, but both sides will be much changed on Tuesday.

It will be Royals boss Jaap Stam’s first trip to The Den, but he knows what to expect in south London.

“I’ve never been there but I’ve heard stories about it,” he told Reading’s official website. “We know how they play and what they can do, especially at their own ground.

“They will make it difficult for every opposition in their style of play.

“They can play on the ball, and they can go direct as well.  They have quality players who can score goals and make it difficult for any opposition.  They will be trying to do that against us and we are expecting that.  We need to find an answer to that.

“You know as a player that you’ll play against teams like that and in front of these crowds.  So it’s all about focusing on yourself in the game and the job that you need to do.

“If you deliver the quality and do what you need to do, and work together, we can get the result.”

Millwall haven’t beaten Reading in 12 games, since a 1-0 win in August 2004. It will also be the meeting of the side with the least average possession so far this season and the most.
